Abstract

The Shovey gold-bearing polymetal deposit is located 7 km northwest of Baneh, within the northwest of the Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone. Mineralization at the Shovey deposit occurs as quartz and sulfide-bearing breccia and veins and also has occurred in the quartz-carbonate veins. Mineral assemblages of the deposit consist of galena, sphalerite, pyrite, tetrahedrite, gold, smithsonite, hemimorphite, cerusite, malachite and azurite. Fluid inclusion studies on the quartz and sphalerite minerals indicate average homogenization temperatures 210 to 380°C and salinity from 1.5 to 15.4 wt.% NaCl eq. for the two-phase liquid rich inclusions. The study indicates that the main characteristics of the geology, mineralization and fluid inclusions of the Shovey deposit are similar to those of the orogenic gold deposits.
