Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films were spray-deposited onto soda lime glass. The amount of acetic acid was changed from 0 to 4 ml in the precursor with 1 ml step. As a result, the physical characteristics of the prepared AZO thin films were considerably changed. Although the (002) plane was dominant in all the prepared AZO films, the intensity of the related peak was slightly declined with acetic acid. Both the estimated crystallite size and strain elevated with acetic acid increase from 59 to 116 nm and 1.82×10-3 to 2.47×10-3, respectively. As soon as the lowest amount of acetic acid was added to the precursor solution (1 ml), the resistivity of the spray-deposited AZO thin film met a drastic reduction (from 2.08×10-1 Ω.cm to 2.01×10-2 Ω.cm). the lowest resistivity as well as the highest transparency were belonged to the AZO film with 2 ml acetic acid which result in 5.86×10-4 Ω-1 figure of merit.
