The Zaker area is located in the southeastern part of Zanjan, in the Tarom volcanic-plutonic subzone (Western Alborz-Azarbaijan structural zone). The intrusive igneous rocks in the area, are predominantly composed of granite, quartzdiorite, quartzmonzonite, quartzmonzodioriteand micro quartz gabbro porphyry which have intruded into the Eocene volcanic-pyroclastic units. Geochemical results indicate that the study rocks are classified as I-type and metaluminous granitoids. Enrichment in Large Ion Lithophile Elements (LILE), depletion in High Field Strength Elements (HFSE), and the positioning of samples along the volcanic arc axis suggest that these rocks have formed in an active continental margin setting (volcanic arc). Moreover, the distribution of samples on the TiO2/Yb versus Nb/Yb diagram confirms that melting occurred at shallow depths (within the spinel stability field), and the primary magma has been influenced by fluids derived from the subducting slab as well as crustal contaminations.
