The Eocene volcanic rocks in the Mehriz area are composed of an alternation volcanic and pyroclastic rocks. Geochemical and petrographic studies indicate a basic to intermediate composition for the parent rock types, which is mainly composed of basalt, basaltic andesite, and andesite. Plagioclase, amphibole, clinopyroxene and olivine are the main minerals forming these rocks, and the dominant texture forming the rocks is microlithic porphyric. The magmatic series of these rocks is calc-alkaline to high-potassium calc-alkaline and shoshonitic. Examination of spider diagrams shows that these rocks are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements (LILE) and light rare earth elements (LREE) and depleted in high-field-strength elements (HFSE) and heavy rare earth elements (HREE). Negative anomalies of Nb, Ta and Ti elements indicate that the parent magma of volcanic rocks has a mantle origin related to subduction environments. respected geochemical diagrams hint to a post-collisional magmatic arc environment for these rocks.
