The Delkan iron deposit is located in the 36km southwestern of Bardeskan city and between longitudes of 57°47'43"E to 57°49'98"E and latitudes of 34°58'37"N to 35°00'14"N. This deposit is geologically located in the eastern part of Central-Iran. Regarding structural devisions this deposit lies in the northeastern part of the Kashmar-Kerman tectonic zone. According to the results of major oxide and FeO analyses in this deposit, the calculated mean values in the Delkan iron mineralization samples are: Fetotal=21.17%, magnetite=31.88%, and hematite=11.01%. Analysis of trace elements and LREE concentrations in magnetite ore and whole-rock samples was also performed. Examination of the geochemical characteristics of magnetite indicates a skarn type, hydrothermal environment, and magmatic origin for the ore-forming fluid. La and Ce anomalies in magnetite ore and apatite mineral content exceeding 1% in the Delkan mine are geochemical indicators that characterize this deposit as an example of hybrid skarn-iron oxide apatite type deposits.
