The BaghMolla mineralization is hosted by Lower Cretaceous pillow basalts and hyaloclastic basalts in the southern Sanandaj-Sirjan zone in southern Iran. The vein-veinlet mineralization with banded, veined, replacement, disseminated and island textures has occurred in carbonatized, epidotized and chloritized basalts. The main minerals are generally malachite, chrysocolla, tenorite and neotocite and rarely sulfides (pyrite and chalcopyrite). It can be said that the BaghMolla mineralization is a volcanic hosted massive copper sulfide and other elements such as lead and zinc are not significantly present in it. Based on tectono-magmatic and field evidences, this system categorizes as the mafic type (Cyprus) and was formed in a low K tholeiitic magmatic arc environment. Economically, BaghMolla mineralization is an eroded system, as evidenced by the outcrop of stringer zones and the results of exploratory drilling. Sulfur isotope data indicate a mantle origin for sulfur and are consistent with other volcanic massive sulfide systems.
