The explored dikes in Alborz province represent part of the Neogene magmatism in the middle parts of the Urumieh-Dokhtar magmatic belt (UDMB). These dikes are mainly composed of basaltic-andesite and andesitic rocks, with dominant minerals including plagioclase (Pl) and clinopyroxene (Cpx), often accompanied by hornblende (Hbl) and iron-titanium oxides. These rocks are calc-alkaline in nature and chemically exhibit enrichment in light rare earth elements (LREEs), such as Rb, Ba, and K, as well as depletion in heavy rare earth elements (HREEs), such as Nb, Ta, and Ti. The geochemistry and geometry of the dike emplacement, together with other stratigraphic and tectonic events of the region, provide major implications for the tectonic feature of the region. It also suggests the direction of tectonic processes that facilitate the injection of dikes in an arc above the subducting Neo-Tethys lithosphere, influenced by the extensional tectonics caused by this subduction.
