The Sarchaveh ores occur within carbonate rocks of the Ruteh Formation (middle Permian). The chondrite-normalized REE distribution diagrams are indicative of the weak enrichment of LREE(La–Sm) compared to HREE(Eu–Lu), together with weak negative and positive Ce and Eu anomalies. These REE patterns suggest that the Sarchaveh ores are mainly derived from a mafic igneous parent rock. Variations in geochemical ratios, such as La/Y, (La/Yb)N, and (LREE/HREE)N reflect change in pH of weathering environment, fluctuations of the groundwater table level, and the controlling influence of carbonate bedrocks on the leaching and precipitation of lanthanides. Additionally, Ce anomalies in the ores reflect change in physicochemical conditions of the depositional environment, fluctuations of the groundwater table level, and the buffering role of carbonate bedrocks. Overall, the formation and development of the Sarchaveh ores were strongly influenced by fluctuations of the groundwater table level and the interaction of two fluids with differing pH values.
