This research aimed to clarify the genetic classification of the Chomalou lead-zinc deposit within the Tarom-Hashtjin metallogenic belt. To achieve this, 80 samples from drill cores and surface outcrops were collected, and 35 thin-polished sections were examined. Major elements were analyzed by EPMA, while trace elements in sphalerite and galena were measured using LA-ICP-MS. Results indicated that sphalerites are characterized by high cadmium, low iron, variable manganese, and are depleted in indium, germanium, and gallium. Galenas were found to be enriched in silver, copper, and antimony, while being depleted in thallium, vanadium, and gallium. Geochemical data identified three distinct hydrothermal stages: an early high-temperature stage rich in In, Ge, Sn, and Cu; a main stage with cooler, diluted fluid responsible for the economic Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu mineralization; and a final high-temperature stage. Collectively, t suggests that the Chomalou deposit is associated with epithermal intermediate-sulfidation deposits.
