The mononuclear tin(IV)-coordination compound (1) was synthesized by the reaction of tin(IV)chloride with 2-hydroxy-N'-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)benzohydrazide in methanol. The structure of1 was characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction studies and the results indicated that compound1 is crystallized in the triclinic system. The asymmetric unit of the structure consists of one molecule of compound1 together with uncoordinated methanol molecule. The crystallographic data reveal that two molecules of ligand are coordinated to the tin ion. Each hydrazone ligand is bound to the tin ion in a tridentate manner through the amide oxygen, imine nitrogen, and phenolic oxygen, forming five-and six-membered chelate rings. The geometric arrangement around the tin ion is distorted octahedral. The methanol molecule, that is present in the crystal, is stabilized by hydrogen bond interactions with the hydrazone ligand.Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to investigate the intermolecular interactions in the structure of compound1 and the results showed that interactions play important role in the stabilization of the crystal structure.
